DeFF Launches G10 Material Expansion Cage, Compatible with Xperia 1 III, Xperia 1 IV, Xperia PRO, and Xperia PRO-I, Unlocking More Creative Possibilities

The Xperia smartphone lineup brings together Sony's top technology to give visual creators more creative possibilities. To that end, Japan's DeFF has launched an expansion cage made from G10 material (CLEAVE G10 BUMPER CAGE), compatible with four models: the Xperia 1 III, Xperia 1 IV, Xperia PRO, and Xperia PRO-I. It lets creators fully unleash their creativity via the Xperia smartphone, using professional Alpha camera technology and the new Videography Pro professional-grade recording app to easily capture cinematic footage without complex, expensive equipment, and live-stream it in real time to platforms like YouTube.

The G10 that DeFF uses is a special resin with excellent heat resistance, moisture resistance, and shock resistance, and it doesn't interfere with data communication at all, including the 5G mmWave band. This is extremely helpful for live-streaming over 5G.

The DeFF G10 expansion cage securely holds the Xperia phone in place. Around its perimeter are standard 1/4-inch screw holes, mainly used for mounting related accessories, while both sides can be used to connect a USB-C cable or a 3.5mm headphone jack — making it well-suited for visual creators and professionals alike. Of course, this expansion cage is also a Sony officially certified Made for Xperia accessory, so there's absolutely no concern about compatibility or quality.

Both sides of the expansion cage use an open design, helping with heat dissipation while filming.

No tools are required for installation, allowing quick installation and removal.

Even with the expansion cage installed, you can still connect a USB-C cable. The hinge is finished in the orange color symbolic of Alpha cameras and is made from aluminum alloy (A6061).

Since using the expansion cage would otherwise affect the phone's side button operation, DeFF designed a structural button so users can still control volume, power, and camera shutter functions.

With the included mounting spacers, it supports all four models: Xperia 1 III, Xperia 1 IV, Xperia PRO, and Xperia PRO-I.

Mount a microphone or LED fill light on top of the rig, and operation is even more convenient with the Sony GP-VPT2BT Bluetooth shooting grip.

A standard 1/4-inch screw hole is also located on the bottom of the frame, which can be used to mount a tripod.

Support for a camera cage grip is no problem either.


For Alpha camera users, the Xperia smartphone can be used as an external monitor.
