Xperia 1 V First-Look Accessories! Japan's DeFF Kevlar Fiber Ultra-Slim Case, Special Resin G10 Bumper, and Hardness-Enhanced Tempered Glass Protector Unboxing. 1 Comment.
DeFF, a Japanese phone accessory maker actively expanding into overseas markets, recently became one of the first to launch accessories for the Sony Xperia 1 V, and announced that it has once again won an iF Design Award this year — DeFF's 7th time winning the award, and its 9th win since first winning in 2012. The award-winning product is the CLEAVE G10 Bumper CAGE, a multi-functional phone camera cage/grip (supporting Xperia Pro / Pro-I / 1 IV / 1 III), which is also compatible with Sony's brand-new flagship Xperia 1 V. True to DeFF's brand philosophy of "Design evolution for the future," and guided by "highly original ideas" and "constantly evolving design," DeFF proposes lifestyles that keep pace with the times to create the future.

At this Xperia 1 V launch event, DeFF showcased its latest accessories at the Taiwan venue.

DeFF's Xperia Camera Cage grip, which won the 2023 German iF Design Award, combines innovative design with practicality.

This accessory also appears in Sony's official Xperia 1 V & Xperia 10 V Announcement introduction.

The Xperia 1 V is Sony's 2023 ultra-flagship phone.
Marco was among the first to get his hands on the accessories DeFF launched for the Xperia 1 V — an ultra-slim case made from DuPont® Kevlar® fiber, and a phone bumper made from special resin G10, plus four types of glass screen protectors made by Japan's AGC using its Dragontrail series. All are certified Sony "Made for XPERIA" accessories, representing the highest standard in both quality and compatibility.

First up for unboxing is the DeFF Ultra Slim & Lite Case DURO, an ultra-thin, lightweight phone case made from 100% DuPont® Kevlar® material. It's about 0.7mm thick and weighs approximately 11g, with strength five times that of steel of the same weight while weighing only half as much as fiberglass, and it also offers heat resistance, anti-magnetic properties, impact resistance, and vibration dampening. Because manufacturing and processing DuPont® Kevlar® fiber is a complex and intricate process, the case is precision 3D-designed to cover the entire phone, minimizing the risk of cracking if dropped. This material is also widely used in high-strength, reliable military-grade applications.

The DURO series packaging maintains a consistently minimalist style, with no unnecessary decoration.

The lower right corner of the box front is labeled Made for XPERIA.

The back is labeled as made from 100% DuPont® Kevlar® material, offering superior strength and durability.

Opening the box from the bottom reveals a small easter egg — this is DeFF's brand philosophy, Design evolution for the future.

The interior continues the minimalist style.

Attached to the back of the case is an installation/removal instruction diagram.

When designing the DURO series case, the product development team wanted it to embody an extremely minimalist style, without complex designs or lines, placing the brand logo on the inner layer of the case so users can focus on experiencing the design itself and also feel the delicate texture of the case.

To install, insert the case from the right side first; to remove, start from the left side, to avoid damaging the case itself.

Due to the DuPont® Kevlar® fiber weave, the surface shows a distinctive cross-like texture.

The camera cutout uses a crater-like design, raised higher than the phone's camera module, so it won't scratch the lens surface even when placed face down.

The right side has cutouts for the function buttons, preserving the original button feel.

It's about 0.7mm thick.

The case itself weighs only 11g, and combined with the phone's 187g, the total weight is just 198g — holding it feels almost like using the phone bare. This case is also compatible with common 99.9% screen protectors sold on the market, so compatibility is never a concern.

The top of the case also has a cutout for the 3.5mm headphone jack unique to Sony phones, with a widened opening for compatibility with more professional-grade headphones.

The bottom has a cutout for the Type-C port and microphone.

It feels extremely thin and light in hand — highly recommended for those who insist on a bare-phone feel.

Experience the ultimate feeling with the DeFF Ultra Slim & Lite Case DURO ultra-thin, lightweight phone case.

The second product to unbox is the CLEAVE G10 Bumper CHRONO, known for Deff's slim, straight, easy-to-grip design. It uses the patented screw-free QuickLock 2 structural design, combining aesthetics with ease of use, with raised edges that protect the screen surface, camera, ports, and other important areas. This product uses special resin G10, a material made by impregnating fiber fabric with epoxy resin, laminating, and hardening under high temperature and pressure. It offers excellent heat resistance and impact resistance, and is precision CNC-machined. Once formed, it barely changes shape and is virtually unaffected by moisture and chemicals. As a result, it's widely used in demanding applications such as electronic circuits for communication equipment and parts/materials for military equipment (gun grips and knife handles). G10 does not interfere with 4G and 5G signals (including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth). In addition, a DuPont® Kevlar® back panel protecting the rear combines with the bumper to enhance overall integrity while protecting the back of the phone, and likewise does not affect NFC and mobile payment use.

The packaging box combines a transparent cover with black for a strong visual impact.

The lower right corner of the front is also labeled Made for XPERIA, offering the highest compatibility with Xperia products.

Made from the higher-cost G10 material, formed by impregnating fiber fabric with epoxy resin, laminating, and hardening under high temperature and pressure.

Box contents.

Precision-machined from a block of G10 material via CNC. This material is also used in military components, such as pistol grips and knife handles.

The key characteristic of G10 is that it never interferes with 4G, 5G, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth radio waves. It has strength and impact resistance equal to or greater than aluminum (compared to 6061 material), while weighing about 25% less than DeFF's aluminum alloy series products.

The right side uses metallic-textured buttons.

0.3mm-thick silicone pads are attached to the four corners inside the frame, so impact forces aren't transmitted directly to the phone.

The brand logo can be found on the inner layer of the frame's top cover — truly understated!

Instruction manual.

To ensure frame compatibility given phone tolerances, DeFF provides four sets of single-sided tape to apply inside the frame for extra stability. (Optional)

Also included is a DuPont® Kevlar® back panel (this one is precious, as it's not sold separately).

Combined with the

bumper frame's integrally molded, specially shaped hook parts and precisely adjusted top cover parts for secure attachment. This ultra-precision machining allows a perfect, rattle-free fit when installed on the Xperia 1 V. A removal tool is included, which can be used for installing and removing the bumper. (Based on past installation experience, you can actually install or remove it without the tool by first securing one side of the top cover, but I'd still recommend being especially careful when installing or removing it.)

Breaking away from a purely rectangular form, the sides feature a distinctive design that improves overall grip.

Made specifically for Xperia-certified products, supporting the SideSense feature.

Screw-free snap-fit installation via the simple QuickLock 2 connection method.

The side only has a cutout for the power button (fingerprint sensor).

3.5mm headphone jack and microphone cutout at the top.

Left side.

The bottom has a Type-C port and microphone cutout.

Without the included DuPont® Kevlar® back panel, you still get protection while showing off the frosted texture and subtly convex surface pattern on the back.

The DuPont® Kevlar® back panel is easy to install — just remove the backing film. (Since it's reusable, but adhesion may weaken with repeated use, we recommend not throwing away the clear film — you can reapply it when not in use.)

Align it with the camera, then press gently.

Incidentally, the frame itself is raised higher than the camera lens, so it won't scratch the lens surface even face down.

The G10 frame weighs only 19g, and the DuPont® Kevlar® back panel weighs 7g; combined with the phone's 187g, the total weight is 213g.

The Cleave G10 Bumper CHRONO for Xperia 10 V combines art and individuality, with no screws or screw holes, making it easy to grip.

To meet different user needs, DeFF has developed screen protectors with different functions, made using glass from Japan's AGC. The ULTRA HARD GLASS series uses AGC's flagship Dragontrail X glass, about 8 times stronger than common soda-lime glass, with a Mohs hardness (mineral hardness standard) of 7 or higher, exceeding 9H pencil hardness. This protector is about 0.55mm thick, with edges rounded via R-edge processing for a smooth feel with no sharp edges.

Different functional screen protectors are developed to meet different user needs.

The ULTRA HARD GLASS series uses AGC's flagship Dragontrail X glass, about 8 times stronger than common soda-lime glass.

The TOUGH GLASS series offers three options: high transparency, 40% blue-light filtering, and an esports matte finish, also made using Japan's AGC Dragontrail glass (though not the X grade). Through a secondary tempering technique, after standard heat tempering, it's hardened with special chemicals, effectively boosting the glass's own hardness to 6 times that of ordinary soda-lime glass. The surface also features a multi-layer coating, providing both a smooth feel and stain resistance, so fingerprints or cosmetics can be easily wiped away.

TOUGH GLASS high-transparency glass protector.

Uses secondary hardness treatment, with surface hardness reaching 9H or above.

The TOUGH GLASS esports matte version is notable for its anti-glare and anti-fingerprint properties.

For those who may need to look at their phone screen for extended periods due to work, we recommend pairing it with the 40% blue-light filtering version to reduce eye strain. (That said, it's still recommended to rest your eyes appropriately.)

Box contents: cleaning cloth, dust-removal sticker, cleaning wipe, screen protector, and application aid tool.

The protector features a borderless design with no black edges.

Comes with a simple application tool kit — secure the black plastic frame onto the phone and you can easily apply the glass screen protector. (Experienced users won't need this tool.)

All four glass screen protectors are compatible with DeFF's own two phone cases.

Japan's DeFF new products are now available for pre-order (releasing late May), launching simultaneously on the DeFF official website, Marco's Store, and three major marketplace platforms!
